该片改编自莫言同名中篇小说，以童稚观点回忆了“我爷爷余占鳌”和“我奶奶”的故事。 “我奶奶”19岁时心不甘情不愿地出嫁，路上与轿夫余占鳌生出感情，走到十八里坡时，两人没能按捺住心中欲火于高粱地里野合，“我奶奶”怀上余占鳌的骨肉嫁给了李大头。李大头死后，“我奶奶”撑起李家的烧酒作坊，不久余占鳌正式成为 “我爷爷”，并独创酿制好酒十八红的方法。抗日战争期间，“我爷爷”和“我奶奶”在“我爹”九岁时连手谱写了一曲悲歌。。一位著名的商人女儿被杀害，辩护律师Kitt Devereux以谋杀案状告饶舌歌手，这位饶舌歌手有着吸毒和暴力史。然而律师却发现谋杀案和她的前夫有着莫大的关系，真相究竟是……。Charles Dexter Ward's wife enlists the help of a private detective to find out what her husband is up to in a remote cabin owned by his family for centuries.
