A troupe of struggling stage actors is rehearsing for a small-town production of a play. Everything seems to be as it should until one of the cast members turns up dead. In a panic, the others try to get out, only to find they are now locked in the theater with the killer! Which one of them committed the murder, and who will get out alive?。该剧根据上世纪八十年代由首届茅盾文学奖获得者周克芹创作的小说《许茂和他的女儿们》为背景，续写了改革开放三十年来，许茂一家的生活变迁，展现出中国南方农村新时代的生活图景。一家人风雨坎坷三十年，他们的沧桑命运，他们的是非恩怨，他们的爱恨情仇以小见大的折射出新农村的新风貌。。
